Bleh

So, it’s bloggy time. I guess. If I have to.

I think I do have to, though. I went to a fashion show last night and it was too fabulous not to mention. It was for Jared Gold’s new Czarina line, but also his farewell show, as he’s leaving Utah and going back to L.A. It’s truly a sad day, to be sure, but he’s promised to train a protegĂ© and Black Chandelier will still carry a Jared Gold label. But it was great. I should have my horrible photos up on Flickr soon, they’re up on MySpasm right now.

Afterwards, Jared’s band, the Misfit Toys, played a set. They were almost amazing, except it really didn’t sound that great. I did a good job of convincing myself it was cool because they had a toy drum kit, a kettle drum, the tiniest guitar, a fancy looking music box, and a theremin, and because they covered “Just Like Heaven” and “Ziggy Stardust”, and because I really respect Jared Gold, and because they had rad costumes, but it just didn’t sound very good. But they look great. Kind of like the Sex Pistols…

Also of note, and something that I really should post at LtM, I’ve been listening to “Maggot Brain” by Funkadelic nearly all day today. Guitar World magazine put out an issue detailing what they thought to be the 100 Greatest Guitar Solos of All Time, and my friend Brandi collected all those songs and gave me a big 8 CD set of them, “Maggot Brain” is number 71, so I grabbed the 62-74 disc to listen to at work today. Every time the song ends, I hear the first few seconds of “Walk This Way” and it just sounds so crass and abrasive and horrid after ten minutes of Eddie Hazel’s guitar gently weeping that I have to go back and listen to it again. All day long this has happened, since about 11:00 this morning. It’s 4:00 now, and I might just round out the day this way. Strange how Fridays end up like this sometimes, all David Bowie, all Cure, all “Why Am I So Tired?”.

I think I had something else to day, something food related. I’m pretty sure something at some point was delicious, but I can’t recall what it could have been. Just keep in my that food is oft times good.
